Three places we put our focus

Sharing Opportunity

We support organisations that reach young Victorians outside the mainstream: in regional communities, in difficult circumstances, and away from well-funded institutions. Our giving goes where larger funders rarely look.

Practical Pathways

Education, for us, includes learning that leads somewhere practical: a trade, a career, or skills that open up real options. We are drawn to programs that produce tangible outcomes.

III.

Beyond the Classroom

We believe some of the best education happens outside the classroom: in the bush, on country, through challenge and experience. Outdoor and experiential programs matter to us.

№ 02 · Our origin

How we began

Peter Wetherall grew up in modest circumstances outside Brisbane. A scholarship to Brisbane Grammar led to a Commonwealth scholarship in Mining Engineering at the University of Queensland, then a Rhodes Scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford. Education shaped his life, and he never forgot it.

Peter built a distinguished career in finance, founding Wallara Asset Management and becoming one of Australia's best-known resources sector analysts. He also gave generously to the institutions that had supported him. When he died in 2018, aged 62, he directed a significant part of his estate to this foundation. His three children now run it in his memory.
